lachine-est—de fer et d’acier
Lachine-Est is a historically and culturally important post-industrial area abutting the St-Lawrence River in Montreal. In planning for its redevelopment, the City of Montreal commissioned a book outlining its history and importance to the founding and development of Montreal and Canadian industry (particularly in the areas of steel and bridge construction). The idea was to give stakeholders a good look at the area's past in order to plan for its future.
Animated chapter openings, flip captions, pop-ups, and a pan and zoom tool were used to enhance the story-telling capabilities of this book that was originally conceived as a printed document. However, due to print budget constraints brought on by the pandemic in 2020, we had to pivot to an online option.
