Mad Miss Mimic
Cover design for this debut novel by Sarah Henstra. This historical piece of fiction is a mystery which takes place in Victorian London. An affluent young lady—with a crippling speech impediment but also a curious gift for mimicking the voices of others—gets embroiled in a mystery which takes her into the dangerous underworld of a London in the grips of opium fever.
The layout of the title, hidden and entangled amongst the sinuous poppies which have been photographed at the turning point between life and death, is a metaphor for the situation in which our young heroine finds herself.
